Ludgvan back in title hunt
ILLOGAN made it nine wins from nine as they warmed up for this weekend's big home clash with league leaders St Day with a 4-2 victory at Newquay on Saturday.
The champions raced in to a four goal lead before half-time thanks to goals from Sam Waters (2), Dan Richards and Luke Abbott-Smith, before the hosts rallied in the second period with goals from Matt Sanders and Dean Vince.
Ludgvan, who were the last side to beat the champions, remain in second place after edging past St Just 3-2 to extend their unbeaten run to eight league games.
Strikes from the Tinners' Neil Curnow and John Bird strikes were cancelled out by Gary Mathew's brace and Jack Ramsey's seventh of the season.

Two goals apiece from Luke Wort and Jason Roberts kept Wendron in third spot after they comfortably beat Falmouth Athletic 4-0, making it four successive clean sheets having only conceded one goal in 540 minutes of football.
Meanwhile St Ives Town hit Troon for six with Danny Paynter (2), Sam Twyford, Alfie Turner, Martyn Harding and Matt Thomas all notching to move them up in to fifth place.
RNAS Culdrose moved nine points clear of the drop zone as they saw off bottom side Goonhavern 3-2. Lee Martin netted twice while Craig Lambert added another to cancel out strikes from Ben Lawrence and Ady Holder.
Redruth United moved to within two points of opponents Falmouth Town after a 3-1 victory. Top scorer Dan McInerney grabbed two with Ben Beesley also netting. James Pollard grabbed Town's consolation.
Liam Paddock's hat-trick helped Perranwell move in to 11th place with a 4-2 victory over Hayle, who have not won in eight league and cup games. Ben Manley scored the other, while Chris Bullock and Liam Mooney were on target for the hosts.
Penryn Athletic against Mullion finished all square, with Ross Simmons and Dan Jenkin on target for their respective sides.
