Major fire in Newquay - 50 fire fighters battle blaze at derelict Cedars Hotel
FIFTY fire fighters are battling a blaze at a derelict Newquay hotel.
The Cedars Hotel, on the corner of Mount Wise and St George's Road, is the scene of a major blaze.Neighbouring residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed as smoke pours out into the sky.
Des Tidbury, Cornwall's chief fire officer, posted on Twitter earlier: "Hotel is derelict . Fire now on first and second floors – six main jets and aerial ladder monitor in use – 50 firefighters on scene."
One police officer also said on Twitter: "Please close windows and stay away from Mount Wise and St George's Road."
