Major shift in transport use 'unrealistic' – council
BODMIN Town Council believes that a significant shift to walking, cycling and public transport in the town is "unrealistic".
A core strategy within the regeneration proposals is to revitalise town centre trading and address air quality issues by incorporating a new transport strategy.
The two town centre transportation options are part of this strategy but Cornwall Council also plans to create conditions for more people to make use of sustainable travel methods such as walking, cycling or bus use.
Bodmin Town Council believes this is desirable yet unrealistic and stresses the need to explore "other solutions". This includes the re-examination of the requirement for a northern relief road, to enable traffic coming off the A30 at Callywith to bypass the town and allow motorists to exit at Dunmere Road, thus solving issues on Dennison Road.
