Majority wants ban to stay, says anti-hunt group
THESE two costumed characters paid a visit to Falmouth and Truro to urge people to protect the hunting ban.
The International Fund for Animals Welfare (IFAW) want people to lobby MP Sarah Newton.
And to help get the message across they sent out a fox, a hare and a stag to remind members of the public that the Hunting Act is under threat and MPs need to vote to keep the ban and ensure there is no return to cruelty.
The coalition Government has pledged to hold a parliamentary vote to reopen the debate on possible repeal of the Hunting Act. IFAW is visiting constituencies where MPs have not stated how they would vote on possible repeal.
The aim is to encourage members of the public to sign postcards urging them to stand up for British wildlife.
IFAW's senior hunting and prosecutions officer Tania McCrea-Steele said: "We want to remind MPs that the majority of the British public want to see our wildlife protected.
"The Hunting Act was introduced to stop foxes, deer, hares and mink from being chased and killed for so-called sport." For more information visit the website www.ifaw.org

“Is this story a spoof? Surely all straight thinking people realise that the Hunting Act 2004 was the greatest disaster ever perpetrated on the general public? It does nothing for animal welfare andfoxes are being killed by crueller means than hunting. It was voted in by the left wing of the Labour party as amatter of revenge against the tories. We know it was anti-British and anti-Cornish. We know it was prejudiced and that the science was ignored. We know it was evil and vicious, and we know it was the start of our loss of faith in Parliament. The Hunting ban MUST be repealed ! It is wrong and the public KNOW it is wrong!”
