Man falls 70ft on to rocks
A MAN was airlifted to hospital with "very significant" injuries after he fell 70ft from a Newquay cliff on Friday.
The casualty, believed to be aged 28, fell from cliffs at Towan Beach, close to the bowling green and Belushi's bar on Fore Street at around 3pm.
Dave Bulley, of the coastguard cliff rescue team in Newquay, said there had been little to break the man's fall and he landed on rocks below, sustaining "very significant" injuries.
The team was scrambled to the incident, along with the rescue 193 helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, South West Ambulance Service and the police.

The man, who was found on rocks close to the cliffside, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
A hospital spokesperson was unable to comment on the condition of the casualty.
