Man rejects court justice

A ST AUSTELL man who allegedly displayed a sign on a van showing a pig's head wearing a police helmet and accusing a named officer of being a bully and a liar told Bodmin magistrates he did not believe in the jurisdiction of their court.

The man – listed on the court agenda as Adrian Cock – refused to be referred to by that name and said he was 'Adrian of the Cock Family'.

During a hearing on September 20 he refused to give a plea of either guilty or not guilty to charges that he had displayed a sign with intent to cause the officer harassment, alarm or distress and had failed to stop a Fiat van for police on May 2.

He said he did not understand the allegations and his pleas were "no plea".

Cock, who is believed to be 47 but also refused to confirm his date of birth, referred to his "unalienable rights" and said that the only person who could judge him was God.

He would not stand in the secure dock area of the courtroom as is the usual procedure for defendants.

The court's legal adviser, Karl Hobson, told him that the court would be entering not guilty pleas on his behalf and the case would be set down for a trial.

Cock accused the court of falsifying information in entering pleas on his behalf.

The case was adjourned until the trial on November 28.
