Man sustains “potentially serious” injuries in Newquay cliff fall
UPDATE: 4.35pm - THE MAN'S injuries have been described as "very significant" by coastguards.
Dave Bulley, of the Newquay cliff rescue team, said the casualty fell around 70 feet from cliffs close to the bowling green and Belushi's bar, on Fore Street.
There was little to break his fall and he landed on rocks below.
EARLIER: A man is thought to have sustained “potentially serious” injuries after he fell from a Newquay cliff this afternoon.
The man, thought to be aged 28, has been flown to Derriford hospital in Plymouth following the cliff fall at Towan beach at around 3pm.
He was found on rocks close to the cliffside, an ambulance spokesman said.
The rescue 193 helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, Newquay’s cliff rescue team, South West Ambulance Service and the police were scrambled to the incident.
