Marine Minerals says address change was for administrative reasons
THE company planning to harvest tin deposits from the seabed off Hayle has denied accusations that it is not a Cornish company despite being registered to a Luton address for part of last year.
Information listed for Marine Minerals Ltd by Companies House shows that the business has changed its registered address three times in the space of 12 months.
The company was started in 2009 by Mike Proudfoot, who lives in Falmouth, and registered to his home address.
In March 2012 the address was changed to Marston Gardens in Luton, which is the home of the company's commercial director, John Sewell.

Last October the registered company address reverted to Mr Proudfoot's home.
A spokeswoman for the company said Marine Minerals was very much a Cornish company, with the majority of its shareholders based in the Duchy. The reason for the change to Luton was that "it was thought that it might be better for the registered address to be with the commercial director".
The change had been reversed seven months later for "administrative reasons".
Mr Proudfoot was previously the manager of Wheal Jane tin mine and vice-chairman of the Cornish Chamber of Mines.
The spokeswoman added: "It is very much a Cornish company. It is an exciting thing, potentially, for Cornwall."

“It's highly doubtful that any money this scheme might, potentially, make would stay in the county. Most likely they'll trash the environment and ruin the local fishing, surfing, and tourist communities before running back to their Sussex mansions and London townhouses with their pockets stuffed.”

“Ha!!! Caught by their own spin. Mr Proudfoot from South Africa had it registered to his home address not a registered office. The Spokeswoman (PR agent) will not know any truth except the truth they create themselves. Don't believe any Spin from MML.”
