Plymouth Parkway 0, Bodmin Town 3

SAM Matthews returned to torment his former club Plymouth Parkway at Bolitho Park on Tuesday night as Bodmin Town underlined their desire to retain the Peninsula League title by going back to the top of the premier division table.

Matthews, who left Parkway last summer, scored one of two Bodmin second half goals – the other came from a Luke Hodge penalty – to add to Danny O’Hagan’s first half strike.

Darren Gilbert’s side banished a Parkway side being touted as contenders for the premier division championship.

Bodmin looked solid in every department and the only surprise was that it took Bodmin until the 42nd minue for O’Hagan to fire them into the lead.

The second half was one way traffic. The impessive Mark Berry set up Matthews to bundle home a 54th minute goal and three minutes from time substitute Hodge completing the scoring from the spot.

Saltash Utd 0, Launceston 0

SALTASH United fired another blank as they were held to a draw at Kimberley Stadium.

A 1-0 defeat at Falmouth came before a 3-2 win over the Bridgers but since that game Saltash have drawn a blank at Penzance and now a second goalless draw.

Launceston had the better of the first half but their lack of punch, which has now seen them fail to score in their last 300 minutes of football, was evident as three chances went begging before the home side began to come back into the game.

The second half was a case of Clarets goalkeeper Paul Hider producing several saves to deny the home forwards with home striker Marc Thorne suffering more than most.
