Merlin and Jess are off to Crufts agility finals
TWO women from West Cornwall, and their dogs, will be competing in the team agility classes at Crufts this weekend .
Trudy Swann, from Carn Brea, and Jeanette Hurrell, from Hayle, who are both members of Carn Brea Agility Club, qualified with their dogs Merlin, a seven-year-old Shetland sheepdog and Jess, a five-year-old border collie.
It will be Trudy and Jeanette's first time at Crufts and marks the achievement of a lifetime ambition.
Trudy is a qualified dog behaviourist in addition to running her own agility club and has been competing in agility for 10 years.
She said: "For anyone who is involved in agility this is one of the major competitions of the year.
"It's extremely difficult to qualify for Crufts and to make it to the 'green carpet' is a fantastic achievement.
"We've waited a long time for this and although the nerves will be high, we will make sure we enjoy every second of it."
Jeanette, who is show secretary for Carn Brea Agility Club, said: "We can't wait to get there and compete in front of an audience of 6,000 people.
"There are four people and four dogs in our team. Two of our friends from other counties are in the team with us."
