Mexican pasties take the Cornish taste test
A baker's dozen of Mexican pasty makers helped make the UK's first ever Cornish Pasty Festival a tongue-tingling success.
The three-day festival in Redruth, celebrated Cornwall's international links with Mexico dating back to when migrating Cornish miners took their expertise and traditions to regions around the world.
Some 13 bakers fromRedruth's twin town – Real del Monte, an area referred to as "Little Cornwall" – attended the event, bringing their own unique twist to the Cornish delicacy.
Marion Symonds, owner of the Portreath bakery, said the Mexican contingent produced their own version of the dish, containing chilli, beef, leeks, potato, and parsley.
