Missed chances cost City dear
Bashley 2, Truro City 0
A night of missed chances for City cost them dearly as new manager Steve Thompson suffered his first defeat since replacing Sean McCarthy last month.

Truro City Football Club
The visitors had enough good opportunities to have taken at least a point from the game at Bashley Road and the Hampshire side took full advantage to claim the win in a game watched by a crowd of 215.
City started with the same line-up that won so well at Cambridge City on Saturday and began well enough with Andy Watkins and Les Afful both missing good chances.
But it was Bashley who went ahead after 32 minutes when Dave Allen raced on to a long ball to beat Martin Rice with a cool finish.
After the break City pressed for an equaliser, but their finishing was again poor and Bashley sealed victory two minutes from time when Jack Keeler's 25-yard free-kick took a deflection off the Truro wall to wrongfoot Rice.

“It¿s hard to understand what is happening at the club and I think the supporters are being left in the dark. The decision to postpone the team going full time is now starting to take its toll on the players. In the absence of a proper club website and the promise of a new one plus Heaney going to ground (remember those West Briton articles ¿Never say never¿), information and a bit of honesty is as rare as a home win these days. Let¿s face it City, it¿s a bit pathetic having to go to your next opponents website to find out what¿s going on. After the 7-2 mauling at Stourbridge not a sausage on the City website about McCarthy¿s sacking only BBC Radio Cornwall had the news prior to the West Briton article. Let¿s get things straight, I and presumably the other correspondents here want City to succeed, but there are clearly things wrong with the club. Why not have a fan/club forum as happened when McCarthy was appointed. I recall McCarthy complaining about travelling to games on the day, clearly no way to prepare for games at this level. Also as an aside do any of the players live in Truro or even Cornwall? In regard to the Bashley game the result was a huge disappointment especially after such a fantastic return to form thumping Cambridge City 3-0 away. Why has their form dipped so badly, as City¿s early season form demonstrated they are more than capable of holding their own in this division. Loses against Farnborough and Cambridge City at home weren¿t down to superior opposition but by lack of discipline by certain City players who should know better. Another PR gaff by the club has been raising the admission prices, anyone noticed that crowds are down and I don¿t think folk are that fickle that a couple of loses will see them drift away. Plymouth Argyle make a better fist of attracting fans even in Cornwall!! What happened to the adverts in the West Briton promoting games? On that point, would it not have been better to have put smaller ads on the back or front page with admission prices or even a family ticket offer. To conclude I think the comments about Heaney shafting local businesses does matter to people, maybe fans are staying away because of this. Any coincidence that poor defensive performances this season have coincided with the lose of Tom Smith, unless I¿m ill informed a shameful way to treat a LOYAL city servant. Mr Heaney get the club full time ASAP and get the lad Smith back in the defence. If money is an issue at Treyew Road get a partner in to inject financial clout and get the supporters back on side.”

“Yes, but they work for him, and presumably DO get paid occasionally.
Whatever happened to social conscience and community reponsibility, it seems to have gone out of the door that opened when Heaney got his foot in.”

“Sandra - there was an artile vaguely relevant to your comments last week. This is about a football match, involving the team staff, IT IS NOT ABOUT THEIR OWNER'S OTHER BUSINESSES.”
