A GIRL who went missing at 3am this morning at Perran Sands holiday park, Perranporth, has been found safe and well.

Cornwall Search and Rescue responded to the incident and searched Perranporth dunes but the youngster was located in the campsite by team members and returned to safety.

This is the second call out for the team in 24 hours, following its response to a call yesterday to look for a missing man in Perranporth who was eventually located near Cubert.

Deputy team leader, Jay Opie, said: "It is unusual to have two searches in such rapid succession, let alone in the same location.

"The police were concerned because of the age of the girl and the weather but she was fine when we found her."

The team, which is comprised of volunteers from across the county and is based at the Old Fire Station, St Dennis, responds to an average of 40 incidents a year.

This was the 53rd incident for the team, making 2009 one of its busiest years with still two months to go.
