PORTHLEVEN have strengthened their squad with a double transfer swoop for experienced midfielder Matt Moore and defender Sam Buckler.

Moore joins the club from Perranporth, while 19-year-old Buckler arrives from Combination League side RNAS Culdrose.

Port manager Kevin Richards has been looking to bolster his squad, which has been depleted by the unavailability of several key players in recent weeks.

Results have suffered as a consequence, with Porthleven failing to win in their last three league games, prompting Richards to make his move in the transfer market.

Moore arrives at Gala Parc, having failed to hold down a regular first-team place at promotion-chasing Perranporth.

"I'm delighted with Matt's decision to join us," said Richards.

"We've lacked that extra bit of experience in recent weeks, but Matt has been around a bit and he will bring us that stability that we've needed.

"It has been difficult for him at Perranporth. He works shifts, so it's not been easy for him to get back into the side when he's available."

Work commitments permitting, Richards hopes to have Moore available for Saturday's home clash with free-scoring Dobwalls, who have scored 12 goals in their last two league outings. After this weekend, though, Richards revealed former Falmouth midfielder Moore will be available for the next seven weeks.

Delight

Richards has also spoken of his delight at acquiring the services of Buckler, who has played under 21 football for the Navy.

"I've had very good reports about Sam and he will another welcome addition to the squad."

An under-strength Porthleven side earned a creditable draw at Plymstock on Saturday (report page 121).

This weekend they will be boosted by the return of Mike Newbury, Ben Medlin and Paul Ainscough as the Fishermen look to return to winning ways.
