Moortown stock clinch the bulk of the Star Show trophies at Dartmoor AGM
Diane and John Jordan's renowned Moortown Stud, near Gidleigh clinched the bulk of the Star Show trophies at the Dartmoor Pony Society's AGM.
The Jordans took the stallion of the year and the ridden stallion section with 11-year-old Moortown Countryman who is by the winning sire of the year, Hisley Craftsman – who took the title for the fifth consecutive year. Countryman has enjoyed numerous wins this season including Royal Cornwall and Devon County while his sire took the Kellythorpe Stud Sire Award for Dartmoors at Horse of the Year Show.
Diane and John also took the Dalby Trophy for best Devon bred youngster with Hisley Craftsman's two-year-old daughter Moortown Magic Wish who was reserve overall in the youngstock points. Daphne Marshall's Moortown New Romance, who won the Cuddy Supreme at Royal Cornwall, took mare of the year.
Craftsman also won the Cherry Cup with stallion progeny and Honeybags Trophy with Moortown Baywind, besides standing joint winner of the Cave Penny Memorial Trophy for breeders in the Dartmoor National Park with Elizabeth and Alona Newbolt-Young from Widecombe-in-the-Moor.

The mother and daughter combination won the Lady Willingdon Memorial Trophy as breeder of the supreme champion (their 31st title) at the breed show with the four-year-old Shilstone Rocks Cottage Craft by Shilstone Dunnabrook.
Joyce and Jacky Newbery of the Newoak Stud, Exeter, were joint winners in the geldings in-hand with the home-bred Newoak Designer Edition, with the dam Newoak First Edtion taking reserve in the Honeybags Mare.
Amanda Sharp from Yealmpton took the new breeders award as well as the best colt young stock award with Huckworthy Kestrel. Caroline Belam took champion and reserve in the Capercaillie Part Bred Awards with Haida Chimes and Jubilant.
The overall Topspec performance award and Starlight Salver went to Lily Ryder. Sue Martin took the Springtimes Shield on behalf of her mother Diana Coaker who bred Backchat. Sophie Raggett from Ashburton took the Iris Gould Combined Training and reserve in the Starlight Salver with her striking chestnut pony, Stourton Clementine who is by Olympia finalist Denburydown Democrat. Jo Green won the driving award with Dunmere Glayvar.
