Police closed off the road and put diversions up for around eight hours while they dealt with the carnage.

A fire engine from Truro along with a rescue tender from Camborne attended the scene.

Officers were yesterday continuing to piece together how the accident happened and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

A police spokesman last night said: "The male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Next of kin have been informed but we will not be releasing details of identity until formal identification procedures are completed."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers by ringing 101.

“RIP to the motorcyclist and my condolences to his family. This happened about 2 miles from me. It's not normally a dangerous road but conditions at the time may have been bad.”
