Mount Edgcumbe car show raises thousands of pounds for charity
UNDETERRED by the rain, thousands of car enthusiasts flocked to Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park Estate for the 19th annual Classic and American Car Show.
"Around 3,000 people came down, which isn't bad at all considering the awful weather," said Tamsyn Cocks, a community fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care.
The event, held in the grounds of the estate near Torpoint, raises funds for Cornwall Hospice Care and the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.
"We've raised £150,000 for the two charities over the years and hopefully we have raised a good chunk to add to that," Miss Cocks said.

"We haven't tallied up all of the figures but we think the event raised around £10,000, so that's really good."
Miss Cocks said this year's event received a lot of interest and hundreds of cars were displayed.
"The car show was really popular," she said.
"We had lots of entries, which was brilliant considering a lot of classic cars can't drive in the rain."
Despite the weather visitors were in good spirits, she said: "Everyone who came along seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. All the stallholders stayed and smiled through the rain."
