Mousehole pub launches first ale and music fest
THE OLD Coastguard at Mousehole will shortly host its first live music and ale weekend. Sea, Salts & Ale will bring together musicians and breweries to toast the approaching summer holidays.
Every other year Mousehole hosts Sea, Salts & Sail, a festival which promotes the maritime heritage of the village, witnessing the sight of a fleet of traditional luggers sailing around the bay. This is their year off, so The Old Coastguard stepped into the breach.
The weekend will be launched on the evening of Friday, July 5 with an arts auction in aid of Sea, Salts & Sail's 2014 festival. Musicians from across West Cornwall will provide entertainment throughout the weekend.
They will include Joe Francis, Bierre de Luxe, Slap Dash Trio as well as local singing groups, the renowned Mousehole Male Voice Choir, pictured, and The 50 Degrees. Pensans Morris Dancers will be dancing on the Sunday while Jacob Bodilly of Boscean Pottery will be throwing pots. Cornish breweries from majors to minors will have kegs on the racks. In total, there are currently eight committed to the weekend, as well as two local producers of cider.
