Nare Hotel helps towards £500,000 pot of cash for South West Coast Path improvements
A Roseland hotel has helped contribute towards a pot of cash that totalled over £500,000 for improvement works on a picturesque coastal walk.
A section of the South West Coast Path, near Pendower Beach, received cash from the Great South West Walk, which The Nare Hotel pledged sponsorship towards.
The walk took place this year to celebrate the South West Coast Path Association’s 40th anniversary.
This money, along with funding from the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), has enabled numerous improvements to the Coast Path – all part of the South West Coast Path Team’s ‘Unlocking our Coastal Heritage’ project.

Toby Ashworth, Proprietor of The Nare Hotel, said: “This section of the Coast Path is enjoyed and admired by many of our guests so the improvements have been something very close to our hearts.”
The work at Pendower Beach has involved a number of small projects which have been funded by The Nare Hotel, led by CORMAC Environment and completed by The Conservation Volunteers for Cornwall.
This included replacing a kissing gate, cutting back vegetation, rebuilding a stone stile, replacing a stile with a kissing gate, adding stepping stones to a boggy section of the path and clearing scrub – all helping to upgrade the popular walk.
