Natterjacks kick back at new home
Some of Britain's rarest toads have made a new home in the Westcountry.
Natterjack toads, which are so threatened it is illegal to remove a toad or its tadpole from the wild, are among the new arrivals at Newquay Zoo.
Nine toads are now living at the zoo as one of several native species, including sand lizards and harvest mice.
Almost one third of amphibians are under threat globally, and zoo director Stewart Muir is hopeful that the arrival of the toads can help "educate visitors on the threats to amphibians".
