Martin Stoner from the village hall committee said: “It’s an incredible achievement for Malpas and a long time in the making.
“The old village hall was basically a wooden shack with a corrugated iron roof - which served the community for 120 years.
“Now, Malpas has something that is a huge boost for the village. You can hire out the hall for functions or meet people there. It’s a great asset and the first real village hall that we have had.”
A spokesperson from the Big Lottery Fund said: “The Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of National Lottery good cause funding across the UK. The Fund aims to enable others make a real difference to communities and the lives of people most in need.”
