New gate opened at Pimm's event
THE new entrance to a St Agnes playing field received a special opening at an annual family fun day last weekend.
The new gate at Goonown playing field was officially opened by its stonemason creator, Bill Piper, at last Sunday's Pimm's In The Park event.
Mr Piper's impressive new entrance consists of wooden gates, granite pillars and Cornish stone walls.
Chairman of the playing fields committee, Paul Rogers, has praised Mr Piper's work and thanked the local improvements' committee for its £1,000 donation.
Mr Rogers has said that the new entrance continues a programme of redevelopment which will hopefully see the toilets updated and a zipwire built in the near future.
The money raised from Sunday's annual Pimm's In The Park event will go towards funding the proposed improvements and the overall maintenance of the playing field.
Mr Rogers said: "It was a very successful day, and although we don't know the exact amount, we definitely took more than we would normally.
"Fortunately the weather held and I think everyone had a good time."
The family fun day, which included stalls, a bouncy castle and pony rides, was attended by hundreds of people.
There was live music from Slack Tide and the St Agnes Silver Band, alongside dancing from Out Break, Danceworx, Zennon Kent and Holly Scott.
