New gourmet burger and fish restaurant opens in Padstow
A TRENDY gourmet burger and fish restaurant has opened its doors in the heart of Padstow, along with a new outdoor equipment chain.
Burgers & Fish, founded by Lithuanians Redas Katauskas and wife Terese, aims to serve the best gourmet burgers and locally sourced fish.
Mr Katauskas was the head chef at Nathan Outlaw's Seafood & Grill for six years and endeavours to use many local food producers.
"We are aiming to serve the best gourmet burgers, meat and locally sourced fish and we only use the finest, carefully sourced ingredients to make our lovely food,” Mr Katauskas said.
The restaurant opened its doors on Friday and has been a big success so far.
“It’s busy every day and local people are enjoying the concept so we are very happy with the first week,” Mr Katauskas added.
All meat and fish is cooked on a real charcoal grill, and the menu currently includes a range of nine gourmet burgers from £9-£11, whole sea bream fish with tomato and cucumber salsa, flat iron steak and pork chops.
A range of crafted bottled beers to complement the menu are also available, along with sides and dessert.
The choice of fish will increase once the weather settles, as local fishermen have been hindered by the recent spate of storms.
Burgers & Fish can be found close to the Padstow harbour at 1A The Strand and is open from 12-9.30pm.
Meanwhile, affordable outdoor and camping equipment store Mountain Warehouse opened a new branch on North Quay Parade today.
Mountain Warehouse, formed in 1997, offers outdoor clothing and equipment from hiking and camping equipment to ski wear and running gear and most of the products are exclusive to the company.
The official opening will take place Saturday at 12pm, where a local representative for the Fisherman's Mission will be on hand to cut the ribbon.
“We are very excited about this new venture and have already begun building connections with the local community,” Helen Munday of Mountain Warehouse said.
“There is a collection box for the Fisherman’s Mission is store and obviously this is a big fishing community, which we would like to support.”
