New head chef at Driftwood Spars, St Agnes
THE DRIFTWOOD SPARS in St Agnes has appointed Angelo Bruno, who previously worked for celebrity chef Aldo Zilli in London, as head chef.
More recently Angelo has worked at Knightor Winery near St Austell.
“The Driftwood Spars is an incredible place,” said Angelo. “It’s steeped in history and tradition but with a really contemporary feel to it and this will be reflected in the menu.”

Monthly Gourmet evenings kick off this coming Friday and will see diners treated to dishes such as melon risotto with crispy parma ham and pan-roasted breast of duck with pear poached in port and cherry sauce.
The formality of the gourmet experience will be complemented by tapas evenings that will be a more relaxed affair due to start at the end of the month.
Louise Treseder, landlady for the Driftwood Spars, said: “We are really pleased to be able to bring Angelo to the pub. We are known for our relaxed atmosphere and great beer. I believe that Angelo is the missing piece of the jigsaw and will give our diners an unforgettable experience.
“His food fuses his natural Italian flair with a Balearic influence having worked in Ibiza and his love for fresh Cornish produce, which is something we care passionately at the Drifty.”
Gourmet evenings at The Driftwood will be held on the first Friday of the month starting this week.
