New holiday centre for horses set up by Cornwall couple
AN exciting new venture is on the drawing board for Gary and Candy Wood of Chenhale Farm Equestrian, near Redruth, who plan to develop their business into what they describe as a "One Stop Clop Shop."
Candy said: "We're opening a brand new venture at Chenhale Farm Equestrian, St Day, of Bring Your Own Horse on Holiday and the good news is that we've been approved by The British Horse Society as a holiday venue."
The couple currently have guest stables for six horses and turnout if required.
Candy said: "At present we have a full size international outdoor (60 x 20) arena with mirrors, and a sound booth. Gary is a grand prix dressage rider and a former sound engineer with Radio Cornwall. He's using his expertise to compile dressage to music CD's for a wide range of competitors including international riders.

"Gary will be available to give regular flatwork and dressage lessons and I'll teach jumping and general lessons as required.
"We're also hoping to keep a few horses at the centre to hire out for lessons and hacking."
Plans are currently in the pipeline to build an indoor full sized school. "We're hoping to have it running by autumn if not before," said Candy.
Improvements such as the construction of a brand new toilet block with a shower and extensive parking for visitors have already taken place.
"Visitors can book in for a weekend or longer," said Candy. "There is also a facility to hire bikes for those non-horsey family members and friends to enjoy out-riding alongside their riders."

Gwennap Riding Club are geared up for the new season starting on Sunday with an open clear round cross country day at their new showground at Scorrier House Cross Country course, near Redruth.
Club chairman Teresa Job said: "Following a long and happy association with the Sandry family at Marth Barton Stables (Three Firs Farm), Gwennap Riding Club is moving to Scorrier House cross-country course.
"We believe this is a good move for the club. The size of the new showground will allow us to broaden and enlarge our programme by holding a wider variety of events. In addition to our scheduled dressage, show-jumping, cross country, showing classes and training clinics we've some exciting ideas in the pipeline to help bring fun back into horses.
"We've been in discussion with the landowner, Mr Williams and there will be safe routes for people to hack, walk or lead children's ponies along and for those with transport, access is brilliant.
"There is a large car parking area and we're hoping to site a tack shop together with a permanent photographer situated alongside the catering facilities and toilets."
Another innovation is the re-introduction of the club's winter programme, with events held at Chenhale Farm, Carharrack.
"This will change the format of Gwennap Riding Club from being mainly a summer club to running all year.
Membership fees will stay the same to offer good value for money," said Teresa.
