New owners invest £550,000 in Falmouth's Merchants Manor
ONE year ago, the new owners of a 100-year-old property committed themselves to turning it into one of Cornwall's leading country hotels by the sea.
Twelve months on and the Merchants Manor in Falmouth is unrecognisable from its former self, with a new identity inspired by the family that built it.
New owners Nick Rudlin and Sioned Parry-Rudlin have completed stage one of the ambitious £550,000 project, with the foyer, lounge, restaurant, gym and ballroom elegantly restored.
And they are only halfway through renovations.

Mrs Parry-Rudlin said: "From the beginning, we saw the wealth of opportunities Merchants Manor presented, and we were keen to invest, restore and develop an historic piece of Falmouth's history.
"The foundations were there, but we knew the hotel needed a lift to take it to the next level. Our goal was simple, to position Merchants Manor as one of Cornwall's leading country hotels by the sea. We knew it was not going to be an easy task, but with the right team and outlook, we were prepared to make the investment."
The next part of the refurbishment, with a further £300,000 investment, will see a complete overhaul of the hotel's rooms with individual designs.
The first collection of new rooms will be unveiled in the new year, with all areas finished within three months.
