New parkrun craze hits National Trust's Lanhydrock
A new national running craze has come to Cornwall with the county’s first parkrun launched at the National Trust’s Lanhydrock House near Bodmin.
The event saw 146 people take part in a 5k run of which 82 were first timers to parkrun.
It is a free event organised every week, and everyone is welcome.
Lanhydrock is the first venue in Cornwall to become a parkrun site and the Cornwall Sports Partnership is working to create more sites across Cornwall over the coming months.
Lewis Sanders from the Cornwall Sports Partnership who set up the event, said: “It was great to see so many runners to this first event. We had people from Leeds, Swindon and one person even got the sleeper train from London to take part.
“ I’d like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out at the event. This is a community event and we need people to help out each week and even become part of the core team.’’
The Lanhydrock parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. For more information visit www.parkrun.org.uk/lanhydrock
