New parliamentary role for Cornwall MP
Cornwall MP Stephen Gilbert has been named as a ministerial aide to Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey. The Liberal Democrat MP for St Austell and Newquay has been appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS), which is seen as the first step on the ministerial ladder. He will support the Secretary of State in Parliament by liaising with MPs and providing advice. Mr Gilbert said: "As a PPS in this important department for Cornwall, I am confident that I will be able to greatly influence our local environmental agenda."
