New theme announced for Truro City of Lights
A new theme has been announced for one of the biggest events in Cornwall’s calendar.
The City of Lights parade involves hundreds of participants and attracts thousands of people to the streets of Truro.
This year’s parade, involving giant paper lanterns, will take place on November 20 with the theme of Expect the Unexpected.
The festival is holding a fundraising evening on October 3 with entertainment and a raffle at the Lander Gallery above Lemon Street Market.

The City of Lights organisers have also created a Buy a Bit scheme whereby people can make a donation to buy a specific piece of equipment for the festival.
Event co-ordinator, Andrea Smith, said: “It's such a fantastic event and we're constantly thinking of new ways to help keep it going. The theme is very exciting for this year and the lanterns could literally be anything – we're hoping people continue to offer their support.”
Confirmed sponsors for this year’s event include The Barley, Enterprise Boats, Cornwall Ferries, Creative Edge, Carlyon & Sons, Sole Plaice, Truro Chamber, Mallets, Shanghai Lounge, Wig and Pen, Hotel Tresanton, Lillicrap Chilcott, Wardell Armstrong and Hendras as well as in kind support from St. Eval Candles, Carters and Skinners.
