Newquay Airport to axe controversial drop-off charge
Newquay Airport is to axe its controversial drop-off parking charge from Monday.
But the free charge will only apply for a 10 minute stay.
It had been free for motorists to park up to 15 minutes until last March, when the airport introduced a £1 charge for dropping off and picking up passengers.
The scrapping of free parking earlier this year was condemned by many, including local MP Stephen Gilbert.

The airport had insisted that all other airports levied a charge, and the parking fee was partly in response to complaints from passengers who had been fined for overstaying a previous maximum five-minute waiting allowance.
Lib Dem MP Mr Gilbert said at the time that he was concerned the road outside the airport could become "very dangerous" with people jumping out of their vehicles to avoid charges.
Airport spokesperson Sarah Burke said today: “Newquay Cornwall Airport has reviewed its current car parking charges and as a result from Monday, December 23, tariffs for both the East and West car parks will be amended so that the first 10 minutes parking will be free.
“For stays over 10 minutes, but less than 30 minutes, a £1 fee will be charged.
“The new charges will clearly be communicated on the payment machines which are situated in both car parks and also in the arrivals hall.’’
