Newquay police inspector Dave Meredith still 'reassigned'
NEWQUAY'S police inspector has been cleared of any wrongdoing following a complaint against him by a local businessman.
However, Dave Meredith remains reassigned while a second complaint is investigated.
The Police Professional Standards Department decided Mr Meredith had no case to answer following a formal complaint made by Dirk Parker of bar crawl operator Newquay's Biggest Bar Tour.
Mr Parker had lodged a complaint with the Independent Police Complaints Commission after an officer, speaking on behalf of Mr Meredith, publicly alleged his staff had been breaking rules. There was reportedly unsatisfactory evidence to prove the allegation.

Mr Meredith, who has been undertaking other duties for the past three months while investigations took place, remains temporarily reassigned while the second misconduct allegation is investigated.
The two investigations have been led by police officers from outside Devon and Cornwall Police.
Mr Meredith was "unable to comment" while a complaint was still being investigated.
