Nick's Olympic run with BMW
Nick Weir, who lives in Exeter and works for BT Openreach, was an Olympic Games volunteer during this summer's Olympics.
Nick had to undergo five days training prior to the Olympics and then covered the period of the games. He had to make his own arrangements regarding accommodation and travel, but said: "I wanted to be part of the greatest show this country has ever staged.
"I was fully aware of the commitment I needed to make both financially and time wise but the experience was well worth it. Our Olympians were fantastic."
Nick was unlucky enough to be in the Olympic Park every day but not have the opportunity to see any of the events, as he was part of the driving team, transporting officials and sponsors around London to and from the various events, using the BMW Olympic cars. "The cars were a pleasure to drive and the Sat Nav technology used was incredibly reliable," he said.
