Novel bid to fill crossing jobs
THE failure to fill two school crossing patrol jobs at Bodmin College in almost a year has prompted a new approach to advertising the vacancies this week.
Staff from Cornwall Council contractor Cormac Solutions moved into Malcolm Barnecutt's bakery on Monday to publicise the jobs to shoppers.
"Many stopped to find out more and took leaflets," said crossing patrol co-ordinator Jane Lewis, thanking Barnecutts for its help.
"The job would suit someone who's community-minded and has spare time morning and afternoon."

School principal Brett Elliott said: "We're extremely concerned that for ten months the students have been subjected to unsupervised road crossings which poses significant risk."
Terry Warne, a crossing patrol relief, said: "The job is fabulous. You're a member of the community looking after children's safety. Every day is different."
