Nuclear warheads not carried to naval base
In Wednesday's Western Morning News we carried an article about Chief Admiralty Pilot Joe Lovelady, who is retiring from the Ministry of Defence after more than 30 years directing the movements of vessels in and around Devonport Naval Base.
It was stated that Mr Lovelady oversaw the movements of submarines carrying nuclear warheads into the naval base at Plymouth.
However, we would like to make it clear that nuclear warheads are never carried on board a submarine which would be sailing into the city's naval base.
