He was married to his wife Josephine Maria for 65 years and fathered two sons, Roy and Paul.
He trained as a master brewer at Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh. He was an extensively travelled man, setting up homes over the years in Kenya, California, Australia and England. He was a true colonial gentleman with old-fashioned standards and was respected by all.
He loved his family and took great pleasure in his dogs.
He served in as a rear gunner on both Lancaster and Wellington bombers during the Second World War, and flew many sorties.
Dee and his surviving wife Jo lived in Cornwall for more than 30 years. In St Ives they owned the Shun Lee hotel, Trelyon, and later retired to Hayle, where Dee greatly enjoyed making model boats.
