Oh what a circus: two weeks of Evita
TIM RICE and Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece Evita continues to demonstrate its enduring appeal as the last of the tickets for the Hall for Cornwall dates are being quickly snapped up – despite a longer than usual two-week run.
The musical, which has garnered more than 20 major awards over the years, stars West End star and multi-platinum selling artist Marti Pellow and Madalena Alberto in the lead roles.
Marti Pellow plays Che, a character who reflects the voice of the Argentine people; linked to Eva by destiny he brings conflict to the story of Eva's rise to fame. As a solo singer, recording artist, and at the beginning of his career with Wet Wet Wet, Marti Pellow has enjoyed virtually unrivalled chart success, with over 25 hits and three of the UK's biggest No 1 singles, including the seminal Love Is All Around.
He has performed all over the world, and his West End and musical theatre appearances include The Witches Of Eastwick, Chess, Jekyll & Hyde, Chicago and Blood Brothers. He joins the cast of Evita fresh from a solo tour to launch his new album Hope.
