Old boys return to haunt Falmouth Town
Falmouth Town 2 Newquay 3
Former Falmouth Town strikers Rob Wearne and Glen Squires were on target as Newquay boss Alan Carey enjoyed a winning return to Bickland Park on Tuesday night.
On the back of Saturday's opening day victory at Liskeard Athletic, the Peppermints made it two wins from two thanks to a brace from Wearne and Squires' 72nd minute winner.
Wearne had headed Newquay in front after four minutes but Falmouth fought back and were level after 23 minutes through Tom Whipp, who finished off a good move with a firm header.

Falmouth created a host of chances after that, but after failing to convert any of them they were made to pay when Wearne directed another header past Falmouth goalkeeper Dan Burrows on the stroke of half time.
But after another good spell of pressure from Town in the second half, they drew level again when Paul Cox slid the ball past Newquay's substitute goalkeeper Sam Trudgian with 71 minutes played.
Within a minute of the restart, however, Newquay grabbed what turned out to be the winner when Squires scrambled the ball home from close range after his initial effort was saved by Burrows.
