Old-style is the right style for brave bellyboarders

A unique sporting event celebrated its tenth anniversary in Cornwall this weekend. The World Bellyboard Championships, staged at Chapel Porth beach in St Agnes, welcomed dozens of competitors despite the sometimes miserable weather. The event started as a small memorial gathering of the friends and family of Arthur Traveller, from London, who first took to the surf on a plywood board at Chapel Porth. But it has grown to become a celebration of an almost bygone age of surfing, where competitors may only use older-style wooden boards.
