Olympic silver medalist to join bike ride
Cornwall-based Olympic medallist Wendy Houvenaghel will join a team of cyclists for a bike ride as part of a campaign to recreate the spirit of the Olympics.
Ms Houvenaghel, who claimed silver in the individual pursuit in the Beijing Olympics in 2008, is backing Pedal On UK by joining the ride from Comber to the Titanic Quarter in Belfast on August 31.
Pedal On UK is a 1,000-mile UK-wide cycle tour which features a series of bike rides and free community celebrations. It is running until September 7 and started at the Olympic Park in London on August 16.
It has been organised by charity Sustrans and is backed by the Big Lottery Fund's Keeping The Spirit Of 2012 Alive campaign.

Ms Houvenaghel, who lives in Bodmin, said: "I'm pleased to be supporting Pedal On UK for Sustrans because cycling is an activity that is open to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds and is a great way to exercise as part of a balanced healthy lifestyle.
"I'm thrilled to be coming home to Northern Ireland to take part. The family rides guiding people into Belfast are a great opportunity to show people that cycling can be safe and fun as well as a cheaper, environmentally friendly alternative to driving."
