Oodles of Doodles for kids
ESTABLISHED two years ago, by professional artist and ceramicist Vivienne Gillard, the highly successful Doodles Art Club at the Old Bakery Studios, Truro, is a truly unique experience for local children.
Viv said: "It's all about creativity, laughter, learning and freedom of expression. At Doodles, I offer young people a huge range of activities and projects to choose from plus a massive variety of materials they can explore and experiment with. Recently a group of my Doodlers have been studying street and graffiti art, so my studio walls have taken on a very 'Banksy' look. They've done an amazing job and I'm very proud of them. The children relax, have fun and create without getting into trouble. It's a brilliant atmosphere here for them." With ever-growing popularity, Vivienne now runs three sessions every Saturday, 9.30am to 11.30, noon to 2pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm at £6 per session.
Classes are a maximum of 12 at each session, enabling Vivienne to give plenty of help to each child and demonstrate many different techniques.
Each child is encouraged to use their imagination and initiative and can choose what they would like to do in each session. Vivienne provides boundless inspiration, structure and help without taking over. Doodles' age groups are from 6 to 14.
