Oyster festival bursting at the seams
ONE of Cornwall's most iconic events is set to be bigger and better this year with twice as many stalls, more talent and the launch of a new competition.
As well as offering more marquee space and chef talent, Falmouth Oyster Festival will launch Cornwall MasterChef – Support Your Sous.
The food event will host local chefs from St Michael's Hotel, The Cove Restaurant, Greenbank Hotel, Oliver's, and Rick Stein's, as well as Cornish residents James Strawbridge and Thom Hunt.
"The Falmouth Oyster Festival has been growing and bursting at the seams, so much so that we have taken the decision to extend the marquee space, meaning that this year's festival will have 60-plus stalls which is our highest number ever," said Mike Rangecroft, from Falmouth Festivals.

The new marquee will be on the car park next to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and will be home to an extra 30 food and craft stalls.
The festival, now in its 17th year, attracts about 38,000 people.
The four-day event marks the start of the oyster season in one of the last remaining traditional oyster fisheries which dredges by sail and hand punt.
The celebrations start on October 10, with a Grand Opening Bash in Events Square.
