Regatta secretary Peter Reveley said it was one of the best turnouts he had seen, with 94 teams of four taking part.
He said: "It is primarily for kids, but some of the big kids among us like to join in as well. I think there must be 500 or 600 people along the quay."
The winning team, Trapnell, caught 87 crabs.
Television celebrities Will Mellor and Rory McGrath attended the event last year as part of their Champions of the World television series.
Mr Reveley added: "I think them being here last year really helped and people have asked me who was coming this year. I think the weather has helped a lot as well; it has been a great regatta week so far."
