Padstow businesses hit by crime spate last weekend
PADSTOW was hit by a crime spate at the weekend when the local Tesco store and four businesses in the town centre were targeted – with two charity boxes among the haul.
Two offenders broke into the Tesco supermarket on Sarahs Lane, and stole £4,000 worth of cigarettes of various brands at around 8.40pm on Sunday.
Three commercial premises were broken into and an attempt was made to burgle another overnight on Friday and Saturday.
Around £800 was stolen from a business on South Quay and £100 taken from a shop in Duke Street.

Police are not connecting the burglary at Tesco with the other crimes in the town over the weekend, however.
Detective Constable Hayley Ferris, of Bodmin CID, said she was hoping to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in Padstow late on Friday or in the early hours of the following morning.
The officer said: "Cash and other items were stolen as well as extensive damage being caused to the properties. Charity collection boxes were also emptied.
"Police are appealing for anyone with information about these burglaries or anyone who may have seen anything they believe may be linked or of interest to this investigation."
They are asked to contact Ms Ferris at Bodmin CID by calling 101 and quoting crime reference BW/13/751.
Detective Constable Sarah Parkman is investigating the Tesco burglary.
She said: "Police would like to hear from anybody who either saw a vehicle or persons acting suspiciously around that time in the area or if they know where the cigarettes are being sold."
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference number BW/13/758.
