Western Morning News

Freezing temperatures are set to hit the Westcountry over the weekend, with possible wintry showers, according to the Met Office. Rain was forecast across the region today, but once it clears there may be sleet and snow showers in eastern parts of the region and on high ground. This will be followed by temperatures dropping below zero overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. Gritters from Devon County Council are expected to be out salting more than 2,000 miles of the county's primary and secondary roads during the early hours of tomorrow.
