A NEW Cornwall councillor has been elected to represent the people of Gwinear-Gwithian St Erth.

Anthony Pascoe, the Conservative Party candidate from Fraddam, has been elected with 322 votes at last week's by-election, which had a turnout of 25.6 per cent. Six other candidates stood for election including Sheila Furneaux (Ind), who got 167 votes, Michael Roberts (Ind) with 163, Yvonne Bates (Lib Dem) with 121, Malcolm Hurst (Lab) with 76, John Gillingham (Mebyon Kernow) with 58 and Derek Elliott (Ind) with 24.
