Pasty-flavoured crisp to launch at Cornwall Food and Drink Festival
A new Cornish pasty-flavoured crisp will be launched at the Cornwall Food and Drink Festival next month.
The Cornish Crisp Company has developed the snack in partnership with the the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. The first packets will go on sale at the festival in Bristol and one penny from each bag sold will go towards protecting and preserving the site.
David Rutherford, from the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, said: "It is a fitting choice for us to be working with The Cornish Crisp Company, helping them to produce the new Cornish pasty crisps. We wanted to ensure that local people were involved in the development process as the pasty is part of their heritage."

She added: "Pasty fans and experts who visited Redruth's first Pasty Festival last month helped us to get the seasoning right so we're ready to hit Bristol with what we think is a fabulous new flavour that we're sure people will love as much as we do."
In celebration of the original miners' "crib", Radio Cornwall listeners were challenged to come up with a suitable name for the new product.
Options included Tinnertater, Croustater and Croftytater, but eventually the crisps were named Prop-a-tater. The name makes a link to the mining term for a length of lumber used to prop up the roofs of tunnels in mines, as well as playing on the popular Cornish phrase.
Visitors to the UK's first ever Cornish Pasty Festival in Redruth at the end of September got to sample two versions of the recipes during the development stages, with the more peppery flavour being the preferred option.
The new pasty flavour crisp will go on sale in November. Cornwall Food and Drink Festival Live will be held at Brunel's Old Station in Bristol over November 3-4.
