Plymouth Pavilions, Friday

Here's a singer whose rich, sparkling tones can milk every ounce of emotion – happy or sad – from a song.

Paul's is the voice that defines Ace's How Long, Mike and the Mechanics' The Living Years and Over My Shoulder, and Squeeze's Tempted, and he has also built up a strong catalogue of landmark numbers like Satisfy My Soul and Eyes Of Blue in his long solo career.

He comes armed with songs from his latest LP, an upbeat, soulful affair called Good Feeling, which pinpoints the place where he is now most comfortable as an artist entering his golden years.
