Pedestrian killed in road crash
A PEDESTRIAN has died in a road traffic collision in Cornwall.
The 61-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the A390 near St Austell at 10.30pm on Monday.

Police were called to the collision between a car and a pedestrian
on the A390 at St Mewans Dip, two miles outside St Austell heading
towards Truro.
A police spokesman said the male driver of a green Mitusubishi
Galant, believed to be from the St Austell area, was arrested on
suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed
pending further enquiries.
The road was closed for just under six hours.

“This has been a long time coming but it was bound to happen. Moving the end of the 40mph limit to the bottom of the hill hasmade no difference as too many people once they reach the top of the hill put their foot down. A speed camera halfway down the hill would slow some of them down. As there is a school halfway down why not a 20mph limit either side of the school. It might not be popular but it would slow the idiots who think speed matters.”
