Peninsula teams suffer FA Vase setback
CARLSBERG South West Peninsula League officials have expressed their disappointment following the FA's decision to refuse several teams entry to next season's FA Carlsberg Vase.
A host of premier division and division one west clubs had applied to take part in the 2012/13 competition, but around half of those who had hoped to be involved have been knocked back.
The "vast majority" of clubs, league secretary Phil Hiscox explained, have been refused entry due to not having toilet facilities in home and away dressing rooms, and the referee's room.
He said: ""We are very disappointed to hear this news and have made our feelings known to the FA.

"The main reason for the refusal is to do with ground standards and in the vast majority of cases it is to do with toilet facilities in the players and referees dressing rooms."
The league received a letter from the FA on Monday, informing them of which clubs have been accepted and those who haven't.
Newly-crowned premier division champions Bodmin Town have been accepted, along with Saltash United, St Austell, St Blazey, Tavistock
Wadebridge Town, Bovey Tracey, Crediton United, Cullompton Rangers, Exmouth Town and Plymouth Parkway.
But following the jubilation of their promotion from division one west under Glynn Hooper, Newquay's application to play in next season's FA Vase was refused.
Torpoint Athletic, who reached the quarter-finals of the national competition last year, have also been rejected.
Camelford, Dartmouth, Falmouth Town, Ivybridge Town, Launceston, Liskeard Athletic, Newton Abbot Spurs, Penzance, Porthleven and Witheridge have also had their applications refused. However, Porthleven could yet earn a reprieve following an error in their initial application.
It has also been confirmed by the league that Bodmin, Bovey Tracey, Cullompton, Parkway, Saltash, St Blazey and Tavistock have all entered both the FA Vase and the FA Cup, while St Austell and Wadebridge will not be involved in the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, Bodmin Town will play Falmouth Town in the Charity Bowl at Callington Town on Sunday August 5.
Darren Gilbert's men were due to play Buckland Athletic, but the Western League season getting under way 24 hours earlier, Falmouth, who finished third in the premier division, will now take their place.
The Charity Day starts with Newquay facing Liverton United in the Charity Vase (noon), following by Bodmin's clash with Alan Carey's Falmouth at 3.30pm.
New St Austell player-manager Dan Nancarrow has made his first signing following striker Carl Rickard's switch from St Dennis.
