Penlee RNLI host search and rescue day on the promenade
PENLEE RNLI hosted its annual fun day last month and raised well over £1,000.
Crowds gathered on Penzance's promenade to see the lifeboat crew and Rescue 193 helicopter team from RNAF Culdrose perform a number of mock life-saving operations on Sunday July 21.
Coxswain Patrick 'Patch' Harvey said the Penlee Lifeboat Search and Rescue Day was a big success, with stalls, cream teas and displays attracting lots of holidaymakers and residents to the seafront.
"Everyone said they thought the displays were really good," said Mr Harvey. "It was quite choppy so people said the lynching looked impressive.

"The weather was really nice so we had a great day and raised lots of money.
"We had lots of really nice comments - I think the public really enjoyed it. It was cracking."
Mr Harvey said the event saw £1,400 collected, which was a good way to finish a month of hard work.
"We had 10 rescues so it capped off a busy July," he said.
This weekend the coxswain and his team are set to appear at Mousehole's harbour lights fun day on Saturday, and are also planning to cast a watchful eye at Newlyn's upcoming raft race on Sunday.
